June to August is the high season, so booking in advance is highly recommended.

Do I need to acclimate to the altitude in Cusco?

Yes, Cusco sits at over 3,400 meters (11,000 feet) above sea level, and some travelers may experience symptoms of altitude sickness upon arrival. It’s advisable to take it easy on the first day, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol. Coca tea and light meals can help ease the acclimatization process.

Life jackets are provided, and the tour is guided by experienced professionals.

How physically demanding is the Rainbow Mountain hike?

The hike to Rainbow Mountain is moderately difficult due to the high altitude, with the summit reaching over 5,000 meters (16,400 feet). The trail itself isn’t technically difficult, but the thin air can make it challenging. Travelers should be in good health and well-acclimatized. Horses are available for rent for those who need assistance.
